Button Mapper is a versatile app that allows users to easily remap buttons on their devices to perform custom actions. With Button Mapper, you can assign different functions to your volume buttons and other hardware buttons, using single, double, or long presses.

Button Mapper supports remapping a wide range of physical or capacitive keys and buttons, including volume buttons, assist buttons, and home, back, and recent apps keys. It also offers the ability to remap buttons on gamepads, remotes, and other peripheral devices.

While most actions do not require root access, some advanced features may require an adb command from a connected PC. Additionally, Button Mapper does not function when the screen is off unless your device is rooted or you execute an adb command.

Button Mapper offers a multitude of remapping options. Here are a few examples:

• Toggle the flashlight with a long press
• Remap your TV remote control
• Broadcast custom intents, scripts, or commands
• Open the camera and take a photo with a long press
• Launch your favorite app or shortcut with a double tap

The pro version of Button Mapper unlocks additional features and customization options. These include simulating keycodes (with adb command or root access), swapping volume keys on orientation change, defaulting to ring volume on devices running Pie or later, pocket detection, themes, customization of haptic feedback on button press and long press, as well as the ability to change back and recent apps buttons.

In addition to the functionality provided, Button Mapper also offers several customizable options. Users can adjust the long press or double tap duration, delay initial button press for better double tap operation, and disable Button Mapper when using specific apps, among other customizations.

If you encounter any issues, here are some troubleshooting tips:

• Ensure that Button Mapper accessibility service is enabled and allowed to run in the background.
• Note that Button Mapper does not work with onscreen buttons (such as soft keys or the navigation bar) or the power button.
• Remember that the options displayed in the app depend on the buttons available on your specific phone, as not all phones have home, back, and recent apps buttons.

This app utilizes Accessibility services to detect when physical or capacitive buttons are pressed on the device, allowing them to be remapped to accommodate user needs. The app does not collect or share any personal information and respects user privacy.

Please be aware that Button Mapper requires the Device Administrator permission (BIND_DEVICE_ADMIN) in order to lock the screen if the "Turn screen off" action is chosen. If you wish to remove this permission, you can open Button Mapper, click on the menu (three dots in the upper right corner), and select "Uninstall".
